About
Arkipel was born from a conviction: local communities should be able to collaborate without losing their independence.
Discover how we help groups pool their resources while staying in control of their data and their rules.
Our Manifesto
We believe in:
- Free and responsible individuals, who voluntarily join together to create resilient communities.
- Circles of mutual aid and trust, that weave the fabric of local social life.
- A world where cooperation is simple, transparent, and without dependence on digital giants.
Our mission: To support group facilitators and project leaders who strengthen the resilience and prosperity of local communities.
With Arkipel, create, exchange, and explore a network of infinite cooperations.
Our Story
It all started in Montreal, with a striking observation: industrial bakeries throw away tons of bread every day that is still perfectly good to eat, simply because they can’t get it delivered in time to food banks that desperately need it.
Digging deeper, we realized this problem wasn’t limited to food. Everywhere, resources — products, services, skills, spaces, or objects — remain unused or poorly distributed, for lack of an efficient system to connect them with those who need them.
Our solution? A decentralized infrastructure that allows communities to:
- Discover in real time what others have or are looking for.
- Exchange with confidence, with cryptographic verification.
- Stay autonomous, without depending on a central platform.
Whether it’s a bakery wanting to donate its unsold goods, a food bank looking to fill its reserves, or a mutual aid network organizing resources, Arkipel provides the infrastructure for communities to see their abundance… and share it before it’s too late.
Our architecture is built on a trust network: each participant retains sovereignty over their data while establishing verified relationships with their peers. No vendor lock-in. No surveillance. No single point of failure.
Who we are
Arkipel is developed by Toucan Solutions Inc., a team of independent builders based in Montreal.
- No venture capital, no shareholders to satisfy.
- A self-funded and profitable company, reinvesting in innovation for communities.
- Tools designed for local autonomy, not centralized control.
We are developers and enthusiasts who believe that technology should serve communities, not the other way around.
